<img src="http://www.kimduffy.com/portfolio/thumbnails/thumb_20101216195619_027.jpg"><br/>
What you see here is what the back of my camera looked like that night. Very little retouching was done to get a blemish off the model's face. This shot took forever to get just right. I had a Vivitar 285hv on a light stand popped through a white umbrella camera right, and off about three yards or so I had my Wolfman character standing in front of a red gelled 430EX flash head.

This shot was taxing also. There are three flash units in this photo, and one minor edit, but otherwise this photo is what the back of the camera looked like that night. We were shooting in a gymnasium that is not very well lit. Camera right I have a Vivitar 285hv on a light stand popped through a white umbrella. Behind our hero we have another Vivitar 285hv popped through a white umbrella to illuminate our villain. The minor edit took place in our hero's right arm there (our left). I had to take out some of the light stand/umbrella. Finally we had a red gelled Canon 430EX on the ground behind the Wolfman character to add to the suspense!

The Battle

 <img src="http://www.kimduffy.com/portfolio/thumbnails/thumb_20101216195550_029.jpg"><br/>
Initially this shot was aimed to be on the rooftop of the Southside on Lamar building in south Dallas. However, somethings did not pull through fast enough and we had to improvise. This was one of those one in a million shots. It had been raining all afternoon as we were shooting the other pieces of the story, so just around 4:30pm (getting close to 5:00pm), the rain stopped and we had about 15 minutes to get this shot. I had two Vivitar 285hv flash units on camera left and right. We took several shots, but this was the first one, and none of the rest compared. I love the reflection of our hero's shoulder in the water on the patio. And for those of you who are wondering...yes that battle axe is real, and virtually indestructible; it is said that it is so sharp, it will cut through bone.

This was the final shot of the series. I wanted to portray the hero as our victor, and what better way then to lose the Wolfman, steal his weapon and throw the good old American flag around our hero's shoulders. If I remember correctly, I believe I only had a Vivtar 285hv popped behind me through a white shoot through umbrella on a light stand, and then I had my assistant pop a green gelled Canon 430EX at the back of our hero's head.

This was an effort for my Location Photography class at the Art Institute of Dallas. I had to get five shots of the Deep Ellum area under five different categories. One of them had to be an architectural shot. Yes, this is a HDR photo. I took several shots of the same area, with Deep Ellum in the shadows of Downtown Dallas, and chose the best one. After finding the best exposure I took it into Camera Raw 5.0 on Photoshop CS4 and saved it five times under five different exposures (-2, -1, 0, +1, and +2). After I saved all the files, I opened them up in Photomatix, processed them and did all my tonal adjustments and rendered the photo.
